Evolution has worked to improve the genetic foundations of our health for millions of years now but new research suggests that things may be reversing and that might spell bad news for modern humans in the modern world. The study was conducted by the Georgia Institute of Technology recently.
Human evolution has worked to weed out genetic variants that are associated with diseases and it’s worked to promote variants that protect us against certain diseases according to this new study which was a comparative genetics study. However, for some odd reason over the past 500 to 1000 years it appears things have reversed. For example, the study has concluded that cardiovascular problems were much more common in our ancient human ancestors than they are today. What this means is that some diseases may be on the rise in modern humans and especially in terms of mental health.
Large populations are better able to purge disease causing gene variants and today with the human population near 7 billion people that is happening but still for some reason it appears this trend has been reversing over the past 500-1000 years. The study also found that Neanderthals and Denisovans had a lot more alleles (genetic variants) that promoted disease than we do today including heart disease. Over the course of time things got better and the variants for such widespread diseases were apparently weeded out as protective alleles rose. Continue Reading
It’s been snowing in the Middle East in such places as the United Arab Emirates and also in the Sahara (for the first time in about 37 years) in case you haven’t been paying attention to the news lately. That’s pretty bizarre! Now comes a new study from the University of California in Santa Barbara saying the oceans are absorbing more CO2 and that this has been going on for the past decade. What that means is that LESS of this GREENHOUSE GAS is going into the atmosphere and thus slowing global warming meaning global cooling may be happening! Rising levels of CO2 in the oceans is thought to be caused in part by a slowing of the ocean’s overturning circulation. This, frankly, could spell BAD NEWS for us!
Some scientists have said that global warming due to CO2 in the atmosphere may be a blessing as it may be slowing down ice age conditions on planet Earth. Of course these scientists are mocked and marginalized by the man-caused global warming gang who continue to push their agenda that man is the major cause of such warming. Of course then we have NASA and NOAA being caught redhanded a few days ago fudging temp data from Central Africa claiming it is the hottest in that area it’s ever been! Yet people in Central Africa say it is NORMAL and come to find out neither NASA or NOAA have anything beyond a few thermometers in the region to begin with! LIARS!! CHARLATANS!!
Now returning to my subject at hand………….the ocean’s circulation is slowing down and the effect is keeping more CO2 in the ocean which means less CO2 is going into the atmosphere and thus means warming has slowed for the past 10 years or more and that means cooling.
Now of course it is thought that ice ages develop due to changes in the earth’s rotation which is not stable like we think. These wobbles are known as the Milankovitch Cycles. The earth’s rotation wobbles like a gyroscope and this alters the amount of solar radiation that hits the earth. Further, the earth’s orbit around the Sun is NOT a perfect circle like some think but is instead elliptical and varies over time. Further, keeping in mind that we are ALREADY IN AN ICE AGE known as the Quaternary Period at present for the past 10-12 thousand years we’ve been in a warming period and common sense along with geologic history tells us that SOMEDAY the ice WILL return. Is that now? Continue Reading
A new evolutionary genetic study at the University of Arizona in Tucson confirms theories that HIV and AIDS started in New York City around 1970 and it also clears the name of the alleged culprit who was a gay flight attendant and who has been vilified as “Patient 0.” The research was done using frozen blood taken from patients years before HIV and AIDS was recognized. They then extracted genetic material and analyzed it.
According to this newest research AIDS was circulating widely during the 1970s and way BEFORE people took notice of the so-called “gay plague” in NYC in the 1980s. Researchers now believe AIDS entered the USA around 1970 or 1971 according to researcher Michael Worobey of the U of A in Tucson, Arizona an expert in the evolution of viruses.
HIV apparently had spread to a large number of people before AIDS was noticed and the new study also suggests HIV spread from NYC to San Francisco around 1976. NYC acted as a first hub for the disease. The study also confirms widespread theories that HIV first jumped from apes in Africa to humans in Africa around the beginning of the 20th century circulating in Central Africa before spreading to the Caribbean in the 1960s.
