The Minnesota Ice Man
(Note: This story was originally written by Rob L. in 2014 and is now being reposted here.)
As the story goes…….
A man and carnie showman named Frank Hansen shot and killed a bigfoot in Minnesota in the late 1960s. He kept it around for a while until he got into a bit of trouble trying to cross the Canadian border with it. He was actually arrested for illegally transporting a corpse (human) across international lines! Gerald Ford, who later became President of the USA, helped him get off of the charges and after that Hansen put the corpse in a freezer and commissioned someone to make a fake for display in sideshows and county fairs. Two leading cryptozoologists saw the original, however, and said the corpse was covered with insects and it had grass between its teeth. They also said is smelled like decaying flesh and in their opinion it was the real corpse of some Neanderthal-like hominid.
Hansen toured the US with the fake and he was mostly evasive about how he obtained the original. What he did say was repeatedly, however, was that “laws may have been broken.” He was fearful of being arrested for and imprisoned for murder! One thing that is known is that Hansen did once tell the story of how he first encountered this creature. According to that story the thing attacked him in the Minnesota woods during a winter hunt. A group of these creatures was huddled down over a deer they had just killed when Hansen just happened to stumble upon them. One of the males jumped up and came at him and Hansen shot it in the face. Hansen said it was a big hassle getting the thing off the frozen lake he’d killed it on (Lake Superior?) and into his vehicle because it weighed so much.
The creature became known as the “Minnesota Ice Man.” In December of 1968 a Belgian zoologist and science writer named Ian Sanderson examined the corpse for three days which was frozen in a large block of ice. The creature was first displayed by Hansen in 1977 in Chico, California. Hominid researcher Lloyd Pye got a chance to look at it for himself and he said the body was in a 7 ft. freezer which was about 3 ft wide and 3 1/2 ft deep. He claimed the creature had been put into the freezer with its knees lifted up a bit so it would fit so it must have stood a little over 7 feet tall when it was alive. Pye said the creature had one arm up over its head. Apparently, when Hansen shot it the creature lifted its arm to shield its face from the bullets but to no avail. Continue Reading
I actually wrote about sharks in the Arizona desert a few years ago and now I want to post that writing here…..
From 2013 (see link below): Flagstaff and the surrounding area actually once had sharks of their own known as Diablodontus. About 270 mya this area was under water and today the landscape is very different indeed. Actually several new species of prehistoric sharks were found in the region.
The three species of sharks range in size from small to very large but all were toothy and ate other sharks, apparently. So it appears Arizona was once home to a variety of prehistoric sharks and their fossilized remains can be found in the deserts of Arizona and just about everywhere else in fact.
Arizona was once covered by a rather shallow warm sea around 270 mya but today the area is a high plateau. During this time sharks appear to have been the apex predators and they were obviously very numerous and not at all rare. In time the sharks disappeared and their niche was filled by whales and dolphins! Continue Reading
Statue of Ares/Mars in the Vatican
I attended a little talk today that I found quite interesting and I learned a few things. For one thing I learned that the obelisk in the center of St Peter’s square was actually brought from Egypt by the Roman Emperor Nero whom I think likely insane. For another I was not aware that the Vatican houses a full-sized Roman sculpture of the Roman god of war, Mars (Ares in Greece), among others!
My mind began to wonder upon hearing these and other little tidbits during the presentation. For one thing, wouldn’t the statue of Mars/Ares be a “pagan image” of a “false god”? Historically the Vatican has viewed such things as abominations so why would they house such things under the very nose of the Pope and the faithful? I just bet that statue and the others is worth millions and I suspect THAT is the reason it and the others is in the Vatican. MONEY! Nothing more! MONEY!! Continue Reading
skull of Homo naledi
I’m bumping up an article authored by Rob while I was away regarding new evidence that H. naledi coexisted with modern humans in South Africa 250 kya. This is a VERY SIGNIFICANT AND IMPORTANT discovery!
Read Rob’s original post at:
A new analysis of two 7.2 myr fossils belonging to “El Graeco” suggests humans emerged in Europe not Africa.
These new findings directly challenge the OOA which is now seriously in doubt. One of the fossils is a lower jaw discovered in 1944 in Pyrgos Vassilissis, Greece which nobody really paid any attention to due to the ensuing WW2. The other fossil is a tooth discovered in Azmaka, Bulgaria. According to Sky News and New Scientist the birthplace of modern humans may have been in the Eastern Mediterranean and NOT Africa.
These fossils are known as “El Graeco” and they appear to be the oldest known pre-human remains in history. This hominid belongs to the species known as Graecopithecus freybergi, an ape-like hominid believed to be the oldest known pre-human dating back 7.2 mya. Micro-computed tomography and 3D reconstructions were employed in the new analysis using the tooth and jaw specimen and researchers discovered distinctive features as seen in modern humans and our ancestors. We all have different ways of coping with the death of a spouse or loved one. Some mourn for long periods while others mourn for shorter periods. Some withdraw from life for a time while others “carry on.” In Western society we mourn death most often with crying while in other societies they actually celebrate death. How we cope with death is a cultural construct.
Some people have a very difficult time coping with death while others do not. This all said, I want to inform you that for the time being Dr Peron will remain in Argentina near his wife’s burial. At this point we do not know if or when he will return. He and his wife were very close, inseparable, and he, frankly, is not dealing with the accident or her passing very well. He is with relatives there and will continue to stay with them for the time being. He has lost interest in everything and is only focused on his now deceased spouse.
So for the foreseeable future we (Barb and myself) will keep things here going as he has requested of us. At this point we do not know if this is for the short or long-term but for whatever it is we will carry out his wishes. It is our hope that those who come here will respect his wishes also.
To say that this is a very difficult time would be an understatement. It is a very trying time for everyone.
The blog will remain unchanged and Barb and myself will continue to put up new posts just as has been the routine in the past. The policies initiated by Peron on this site will also continue the same. There will be times when Barb and myself will be busy with other things or out working in the midst of nowhere and in those times there will be no new posts. There is plenty here to read so this should not be a problem. When such times come up we will post it here so everyone will know we are not available and we will also post when we plan to return so that you will know.
I want to thank everyone for the prayers and thoughts and for keeping things moving here. I will keep you posted on Peron as I get information.
Thank you all,
The weather around the world this month has been nothing short of odd and wild. Snow in Denver, baseball size hail in various places, snow out of season, and where I live last week it reached 31 degrees on the desert mountains with a dusting of snow which all is unheard off for the month of May.
According to Astrophysicist Piers Corbyn of WeatherAction, “The developing Mini ice-age is now in a NEW PHASE and here to stay 20 years.” And THAT is significant IMO.
Solar activity continues to weaken and it appears it is not going to strengthen anytime soon. In fact, analysts are saying it is going to weaken even more. Some researchers also now say we can expect temps 30 degrees below normal in many places within the next 12 months. They also say to expect a fall in average sea temps. Further some are saying that all of this combination will also weaken the geo magnetic field which will only compound solar effects.
