For a long time now I’ve been toying with an idea in my head concerning the growing violence we see in human society, especially in American society. Maybe it’s just me but that violence seems to be becoming more and more violent and depraved as just when you’ve thought you’ve heard it all someone commits an even more violent and depraved act keeping us shocked by it all. Here’s what I’ve been pondering…….
Whether you believe in the Theory of Evolution per Darwin or whether you believe in the Theory of Hybridization one thing is clear. Modern people have the blood of Homo erectus running through their veins along with some of their genes to varying amounts, meaning, some more than others. According to Evolutionary Theory H. erectus was the first ancient human ancestor (AHA) to walk upright and was the first to use fire among other things. H. erectus was a hunter and if you believe evolutionary theory this was the first hominid species to migrate out of Africa and conquer the world all the way from Europe to the Far East. But, the alternative to evolutionary theory is the hybridization theory.
The hybridization theory postulates the several species (breeds, races) of AHA coexisted and interbred. Thus, the offspring were hybrids of mixed blood and mixed genes. Anthropologist and author Dr Susan Martinez is one that holds to this hybridization theory which I tend to agree with primarily because of something called “Occam’s Razor.”
Occam’s Razor (or law) says that when two or more theories are presented the one with the LEAST assumptions should be selected. In my mind the hybridization theory has less assumptions than current evolutionary theory and that’s why I tend to lean towards the former.
Getting back to H. erectus Dr Martinez refers to them as “Druks.” These Druks, she says, were the third race who came to be as a result of the “little people” (H. sapien pygmaeus” and the Ardipithicines whom she calls “Ardi.” The little people were the first to have wisdom and spirits while Ardi was a manimal, a true APE MAN without spirit and without wisdom. The Little People were forbidden to interbreed with the Ardi species but they did so anyway and the result was a hybrid species known as the “Druks” (ie: H. erectus).
These Druks that Dr Martinez presents in her book entitled “The Mysterious Species of Hybrid Man” were hunters and WARRIORS. They were “giants” to the little people who only stood about 4 feet tall. Some of these Druks stood over 6 feet tall. In essence they were part human and part animal (ape). They were prone to violence and their behavior was very crude as a result of their being part human and part animal (manimals) They were known as the “ground people” and “pit dwellers” by the little people (whom Dr Martinez calls “Ihins”). They were also known as the “barbarian hordes.”
These Druks (H. erectus) were huge and troublesome according to Dr Martinez. They were also cannibals! They tended to be tall with long legs and long arms as their skulls were “dolichocephalic” (long-headed). Their skulls were thick to the point that they looked engineered for head-butting (think bighorn sheep rams head butting each other). They were primitive in their behavior and ways and perhaps not so intelligent.
Dr. Martinez says in her book that these Druks turned on the Ihin little people and slaughtered most of them making themselves the largest AHA group. Dr Martinez says that the little people (Ihins) are symbolized in the Bible as “Abel” while the Druks are symbolized as his brother or more likely half-brother the infamous “Cain.” Now if you recall the biblical story it says that Abel was a farmer and Cain was a hunter. Cain ended up killing his brother Abel and according to Martinez this symbolizes the time when the Druks (H. erectus) began their wholesale slaughter of the little people (Ihins). What Martinez postulates is very possible as much of the Bible, I believe, is symbolic and not literal but I’m not going to get into that right now.
So accepting that Dr Martinez’s theory is so here is my theory………..
Is it possible that the very violent people we see in modern society have more Druk (H. erectus) blood and genes in them than other people? When it comes to “criminals” are we really dealing with people whose H. erectus genes are primary within them or, at least, near primary? Is this why they do some of the horrible things they do and seem to think nothing about it?
Judging from what Dr Martinez says about H. erectus (Druks) having been a warrior species or breed of AHA and judging that they slaughtered the little people, at least most of them, then I have to say that H. erectus must have been sociopathic if not psychopathic or both!
So do people who commit atrocities beyond belief have more genes from H. erectus in their DNA or, at least, is their some sort of dominating gene within them that they inherited more so than other people from H. erectus? And does this explain the things they do? Does this explain the horrible atrocities they commit without remorse or guilt?
Now we all have DNA within us from H. erectus but I think most people who do NOT commit atrocities or crimes have a bit more “Ihin” little people genes within them than H. erectus. And I believe these genes, in part, regulate behavior and that’s why they don’t go around doing horrible things. But, those who do do so because the gene(s) from H. erectus regulate THEIR behavior and, perhaps, even their thinking!
Genetics is very important in my way of thinking and as we have seen genes DO play a very BIG role in human behavior and thinking processes. Genes are proving to us that we may NOT have the “free will” that we like to think we have. Genes are also showing us our human lineage and sometimes that lineage has turned out to be nothing short of astounding! For, what we thought…was, and what we thought was not….WAS and IS!!
So is there a correlation between the violence we see in SOME humans today and inherited H. erectus DNA? And if there is then that brings us to this….
When it comes to violence and atrocity we are NOT dealing with people who are fully modern humans but with people whose DNA is dominated by or controlled by DNA from our ancient human ancestor the violent “barbarian” known as Homo erectus. And if is so then we are dealing with MANIMALS who have an entirely different mindset than most of us do and who see nothing wrong with the atrocities they commit just as I think H. erectus thought the SAME!
Now, I understand that IF I’m right then there are great implications to this theory of mine, et al. Implications for those who commit horrors and implications for human society at large too. And if this theory is so then how do we address the MODERN H. erectus types living among us? How do we alter the behavior and mindset of someone who is dominated by H. erectus DNA or is it even possible to do so?
Dr. Martinez says that the surviving Ihins little people were able to enlighten some of the Druks (H. erectus) and those Druks stopped being barbarians and killers and began to dwell as normal law-abiding and moral men and women. So that tells me that if Martinez is correct then there is HOPE for the violent people today who are in our midst! She says the little people enlightened the Druks with their spiritual beliefs and wisdom, at least, SOME of them. Is this the key then? Knowledge both temporal and spiritual? Is this how we solve the growing violence in modern society? With KNOWLEDGE!
I’m a firm believer in that NO ONE THINGS CAUSES ANYTHING. Everything has multiple causes and multiple contributing factors. But, some of those factors are more contributing than others and sometimes, if not often times, those major contributing factors tend to be GENETIC! I think this is an idea worth investigating further because somewhere along the line we MUST do something to stem the growing violent people in our society!!
Dr Martinez and many others including evolutionary theory itself says that we modern humans today are a conglomeration of all of our ancient human ancestors from Ardipithecus to Australopithecus to Homo erectus to the Cro-mags and finally culminating into us, Homo sapien sapiens. All of our DNA contains elements from these AHA’s and in some of us some of those DNA elements MIGHT be FAR MORE prominent than we know!
