A new evolutionary genetic study at the University of Arizona in Tucson confirms theories that HIV and AIDS started in New York City around 1970 and it also clears the name of the alleged culprit who was a gay flight attendant and who has been vilified as “Patient 0.” The research was done using frozen blood taken from patients years before HIV and AIDS was recognized. They then extracted genetic material and analyzed it.
According to this newest research AIDS was circulating widely during the 1970s and way BEFORE people took notice of the so-called “gay plague” in NYC in the 1980s. Researchers now believe AIDS entered the USA around 1970 or 1971 according to researcher Michael Worobey of the U of A in Tucson, Arizona an expert in the evolution of viruses.
HIV apparently had spread to a large number of people before AIDS was noticed and the new study also suggests HIV spread from NYC to San Francisco around 1976. NYC acted as a first hub for the disease. The study also confirms widespread theories that HIV first jumped from apes in Africa to humans in Africa around the beginning of the 20th century circulating in Central Africa before spreading to the Caribbean in the 1960s. Isn’t it funny how we like to pretend to be “objective” even though we really cannot be fully objective? No matter how objective we try to be our values and perceptions enter into our objectivity no matter what. And something else that enters into our objectivity is our own egotism and arrogance. Allow me to explain…..
We tend to perceive of our modern civilization as the most advanced ever to exist on planet Earth. In turn, we tend to think of our species H. sapiens as the most advanced species in our lineage and, indeed, we are. Sadly, the end result of this arrogance is that we tend to look down upon those species who came before us. Neanderthals are a good example. We have historically viewed them as the stereotypical “cave man” complete with club when, in fact, mounting evidence is showing this perception of Neanderthals to be WRONG! And the same is true when it comes to Homo erectus!!
There is a growing amount of evidence that H. erectus was more sophisticated than we have previously thought. For one thing this species migrated out of Africa, according to the OOA/Replacement Theory, and spread across Asia basically “colonizing” the planet for us. That fact alone proves that this species of early human ancestor was not an idiot! Did they wonder about aimlessly? Did they just go wherever the winds blew them? I find that a bit hard to believe, frankly, because it appears that IF H. erectus migrated out of Africa and into Asia and eventually down in to South East Asia that the species may have had some sort of plan. It looks to me like they knew where they were going! But, that’s only if you believe in the Out of Africa (aka: Replacement) Theory which I do NOT subscribe to. I believe that many species of ancient human ancestors coexisted all over the planet and they didn’t migrate from anywhere as they were always here, in those places where they are found. And I also believe that what happened with these ancient hominids is that they did NOT go “extinct” but that there was a lot of interbreeding between the species culminating in H. sapiens (us) which is the end product of all of this hybridization. When we think of Neanderthals we typically think of a buff, brutish “cave man” because this is the social myth that has been created around them in our modern society. However, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to these ancient human European ancestors!
Neanderthals lived from about 350 kya to around 24.5 kya in Europe and a few other places but somewhere around 46 kya their numbers began to dwindle. Or, at least that is what we suspect as the population of Homo sapiens (Cro-magnon) began to grow. The Out of Africa Theory, also known as the “Replacement Theory,” of human evolution asserts that Neanderthals were replaced by Cro-mags but this is likely NOT the case at all. In fact, the most likely thing to happen to the Neanderthals is that they were “absorbed” into the Cro Mag populations via interbreeding which explains why Europeans and their descendants today have about 3% Neanderthal DNA in them.
Two recreations of Neanderthals. The one on the right looks a bit like one of my favorite singers, Antonio Solis!!
Contrary to public misconception the Neanderthals were NOT the brutish creatures we’ve been lead to believe they were. Yes, they had larger brains than modern humans and yes they had more stocky bodies BUT they had CULTURE! And the evidence for Neanderthal culture comes from what they left behind. For example, Neanderthals made ornaments and bone tools. There is a flute made from a bone of a cave bear made by Neanderthals that dates between 43 kya to 82 kya. This indicates that Neanderthals had appreciation for music and that they knew what music was to begin with. Music is art and what we are finding out is that Neanderthals seem to have loved artistic things!
We also know that Neanderthals controlled and used fire which is the first indication of culture. They knew how to flake stone to make tools and weapons and the front weighed thrusting spears they made were exquisite. Meat was their primary diet and they also took care of their elderly, injured, and ill. This shows that Neanderthals had compassion and a sense of family which are also indicative of culture. It shows that they had some sense of camaraderie and brotherhood. They say you can tell a lot about a people by the way they treat their young, infirm, and old and in the case of the Neanderthals the fact that they took care of their elderly, young, and infirm speaks volumes as PROOF that these people had culture! Had they not then they would have simply abandoned them leaving them to their own devices and the elements but they didn’t do that.
We also know that Neanderthals buried their dead instead of leaving them to rot where they died and this shows that Neanderthals had a sense of decency and maybe even a sense of some sort of afterlife. Sometimes they buried their dead with artifacts, red ocher, or even flowers! This proves that Neanderthals had compassion, remorse, and a host of other feelings that are far from being the brutish “cave man” we’ve been led to believe they were. If they had a sense of some sort of afterlife then that means they likely had some sort of religion or spirituality and that is amazing in my opinion because it again proves that the Neanderthals were far brighter than we suspect! A multi-institute study lead by Monash University has discovered that our brains shut us down when we are getting too much water by activating a “swallowing inhibition” after we’ve taken in too much water via drinking. It is assumed this is to prevent “water intoxication.”
This mechanism seems to regulate our fluid intake and is designed to keep us from over-drinking. Water intoxication, btw, can actually be FATAL in case you didn’t know it.
The new study challenges conventional “wisdom” that we must drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to be healthy. The brain activated mechanism to keep us from over-drinking apparently helps maintain the highly calibrated volumes of H20 in our bodies, according to this new study which was overseen by Professor Michael Farrell of the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute and work done at the University of Melbourne by PhD candidate Pascal Saker.
Interestingly, the results showed a 3 times increase in effort after over-drinking! That is, after subjects consumed too much water their ability to swallow it had to be forced 3 times above normal swallowing. This indicated, it seems, that the subjects were having to overcome some sort of resistance by the body to take in more water. Researchers concluded that this confirms their suspicion that the swallowing reflex is inhibited by the brain once our bodies have enough water. Continue Reading
An ancient dinner has been unearthed and intact from about 1600 years ago in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. The meal was unearthed in what was once a roasting pit and we don’t know yet just what the meal was composed of but hopefully soon will.
Buffalo Jump, Alberta, Canada
This ancient cuisine was found on the Blackfoot Reservation Territory at a place known as “Head-smashed-in-buffalo.” This site is also a UNESCO heritage site. Apparently, this was a place where the Blackfoot ran buffalo off of a cliff as it was a frequent way of hunting the animals. This “buffalo jump” was used for almost 6000 years as far as we can tell and the cliff itself is about 36 feet high. Natives would dawn the skins of wolves and coyotes to scare the near-sighted Buffalo who would stampede and follow the leader right off the cliff. A rather easy, but dangerous, way to get them!
Many cultures from around the world used cooking pits like the one in Alberta. The one there was a roasting pit that was perfectly intact with the meal nicely sealed still inside! These “earth ovens” are a sure indication of human civilization in an area as well. Such earth ovens are basically a hole dug into the ground used to trap heat and bake the food placed inside them. They were also used for smoking meat or steaming other foods. This particular pit was lined with rocks and willows. Heated rocks would be put into the pit and then the meat was put into it. The entire pit was then covered over with soil and vegetation and left to cook, steam, or smoke for several hours or maybe even for the entire day. You can actually built one of these at home! Some people put a 55 gallon drum into the ground which is the same principle. The food that comes out of these earth ovens is FANTASTIC!!
Earth Oven in Red Rock Canyon, southern Nevada used by ancient Paiute
The ancient meal was found in the center of the pit or Earth Oven under several layers of bones, artifacts, and soil. The ancient cuisine is presently being held at the Royal Albert Museum where it will be analyzed to see what it consists of. Now you might be wondering why an ancient people just abandoned such a meal and frankly we don’t know. Maybe they had to leave the area quickly due to some unknown danger. Maybe they got into a family squabble and forgot to eat! Whatever the case I’m happy they left their meal behind because I want to know what it consists of. I bet buffalo meat is definitely part of it.
Bon Appetit everyone!! 🙂

For a long time now I’ve been toying with an idea in my head concerning the growing violence we see in human society, especially in American society. Maybe it’s just me but that violence seems to be becoming more and more violent and depraved as just when you’ve thought you’ve heard it all someone commits an even more violent and depraved act keeping us shocked by it all. Here’s what I’ve been pondering…….
Whether you believe in the Theory of Evolution per Darwin or whether you believe in the Theory of Hybridization one thing is clear. Modern people have the blood of Homo erectus running through their veins along with some of their genes to varying amounts, meaning, some more than others. According to Evolutionary Theory H. erectus was the first ancient human ancestor (AHA) to walk upright and was the first to use fire among other things. H. erectus was a hunter and if you believe evolutionary theory this was the first hominid species to migrate out of Africa and conquer the world all the way from Europe to the Far East. But, the alternative to evolutionary theory is the hybridization theory.
The hybridization theory postulates the several species (breeds, races) of AHA coexisted and interbred. Thus, the offspring were hybrids of mixed blood and mixed genes. Anthropologist and author Dr Susan Martinez is one that holds to this hybridization theory which I tend to agree with primarily because of something called “Occam’s Razor.”
Occam’s Razor (or law) says that when two or more theories are presented the one with the LEAST assumptions should be selected. In my mind the hybridization theory has less assumptions than current evolutionary theory and that’s why I tend to lean towards the former.
Getting back to H. erectus Dr Martinez refers to them as “Druks.” These Druks, she says, were the third race who came to be as a result of the “little people” (H. sapien pygmaeus” and the Ardipithicines whom she calls “Ardi.” The little people were the first to have wisdom and spirits while Ardi was a manimal, a true APE MAN without spirit and without wisdom. The Little People were forbidden to interbreed with the Ardi species but they did so anyway and the result was a hybrid species known as the “Druks” (ie: H. erectus).
These Druks that Dr Martinez presents in her book entitled “The Mysterious Species of Hybrid Man” were hunters and WARRIORS. They were “giants” to the little people who only stood about 4 feet tall. Some of these Druks stood over 6 feet tall. In essence they were part human and part animal (ape). They were prone to violence and their behavior was very crude as a result of their being part human and part animal (manimals) They were known as the “ground people” and “pit dwellers” by the little people (whom Dr Martinez calls “Ihins”). They were also known as the “barbarian hordes.” Continue Reading
My answer to this question on Quora: Forget all the nutty SJW Gay Politics types answering here. One of the big lies of Gay Identity Politics is that gay men don’t act any differently from straight men. Anyone with a brain knows that this is of course not true. Macho or hypermasculine gay men are […]
